MEET THE CHILDREN
'I remember when ZARA'S CENTER opened. We had hundreds of young kids stopping by. One day we did an informal survey of the children, and discovered that 80% of them were providing daily care for younger siblings because of AIDS. We know we need to do more ‘and do it better’ to ensure that there is a place for children to go, not just for food and clothing, but a place to share burdens and to regain a belief that ‘things will get better’. We can’t let a generation of Zimbabwean children give up'. LESLEY GOLDWASSER
