AN OPEN LETTER TO SUPPORTERS OF ZARA’S 2010 ING NYC MARATHON PROGRAM
Dear Friend,
Whether you have run for us or donated in the past, or will run for or donate this year to our 2010 ING Marathon 'run', on behalf of the children we serve, thank you.
If you were on Eileen’ Patrick's ‘Take the Lead’ Team last year, let me assure you that your past labors helped us reach our goals; we purchased a Palm Oil Trust and just recently closed on a permanent home for Zara’s. While on paper, we raised over $100,000 in actual cash contributions, the actual fiscal impact of our efforts will amount to over 1,000,000, during the lifetime of our Palm Oil Trust, impacting an entire generation of children in one of the most deserving areas of the world.
If you are new to our project, this year’s goals are equally compelling. We have set our sights on four exciting goals:
1) Raising the funds to rehab Zara’s new home in Emganwini,
2) Optimizing program delivery through staff training and mentorship,
3) Purchasing adjacent property/building companion structures, and
4) Seeding a planning process to replicate programs beyond Bulawayo.
As always, thank you for your support, interest in, and commitment to the children at Zara's Center for Aids' Impacted Youth. I look forward to seeing you at the finish line -- whether or not you can run for us, or sponsor a runner this year,
All the best,
Lesley Goldwasser
Co-Founder and International Chairperson of Zara’s Center
Co-President, PG Family Foundation
